A belated Tatty New Year!
A belated Tatty New Year to you all!
The last few weeks I have been busy sewing away making various gifts and commissions and stitching various things for baby (in a typically nesting style fashion). It feels so lovely to be doing what I love to do rather than try to fit it all in around my usual day job. Maternity leave is the bees knees I tell ya!
By doing this is also makes me realise that I need to make some serious decisions about what I want to do and what I need to put more of my time and energy into. Exciting and daunting.
Anyway........here are a few pics of the odds and ends I have been working on!
stich-a-rama!

rest and stitch
Been feeling a tad ropey thanks to the ever expanding belly and lack of sleep because of painful limbs so in the days of doctor ordered resting on the sofa I have been sewing in prep for the 'For Sale' Alumni Art Exhibition which opens tomorrow evening. There promises to be lots of lovely local artists selling their work at purse friendly prices.

Also been stitching away gifts for the make do and mend gifts for my dearest friends- very much looking forward to finishing the day job in just under 5 weeks as having to start maternity leave MUCH earlier than anticipated. At least I can focus on making lots of work before bub's arrives!

Show your support......
This is really important to me as somebody who has both studied and taught at the Uni. It has been a huge part of my life since I was 17 years old and helped shape the artist I am today.
I have already seen massive changes in the access to facilities and resources over this time. Losing the Art Library on site, the metals workshop and cutting back on the size of these workshop spaces a few years ago was a terrible blow to many wishing to persue those art mediums or research on-site.
Staff cutbacks have been huge whether this is from the brilliant and gifted technicians, the part-time lecturers like myself or the senior lecturers with their wealth of knowledge. To cut back these further seems rediculous.
Students are looking at vast amounts of debt when they finish their degree and to limit the facilities that would not only benefit their study but potentially form the basis for their chosen career seems madness.
Please show you support by signing the petition against these cuts- its really important that as many as possible show how important this is.
